Напротив пострадавшего дома находится пивной магазин. Владелец магазина рассказал, что его продавец, проживающая в этом доме, сразу после взрыва бросилась искать своих детей.
“Мой магазин находится напротив, и продавец была в таком шоке, плакала, не могла ничего толком сказать. У нее дети были дома. Она сразу побежала их искать. Это был настоящий шок, крики, слезы.”
Все жители дома были оперативно эвакуированы из-за сохраняющейся угрозы дальнейшего обрушения. По данным оперативных служб, более 30 квартир могли быть серьезно повреждены или полностью разрушены. “Близко никого не подпускают, все огорожено. Я была на рабочем месте, когда это случилось, слышала очень сильный взрыв. Окна моей сауны выходят во двор, а не на улицу Блинова. Машины экстренных служб, особенно пожарные, приехали очень быстро.”
Эвакуированных жителей временно разместят в гостинице «Сокол». Изначально для них был организован пункт временного размещения на базе школы № 103, расположенной поблизости. Вахтер школы поделился своими наблюдениями.
“Да, взрыв был очень сильный, дом находится всего в нескольких сотнях метров от школы. Мы видели фотографии и информацию в Телеграм-каналах, там были видны и дорожные работы. Но когда я увидел последствия, меня поразила хрупкость дома. Не исключено, что сама конструкция способствовала такому обрушению. За последние 20 лет застройщики экономят на всем, включая стройматериалы и конструктивные решения. Это влияет на прочность. То, что власти эвакуировали жителей из других подъездов, подтверждает, что характер разрушений может затронуть соседние секции. Раньше для безопасности делали деревянные окна, чтобы газ уходил наружу. Если этого не происходит, газ проникает в стены и перекрытия, увеличивая ущерб при обрушении. A devastating explosion in a high-rise residential building in Saratov has tragically resulted in four fatalities. The blast caused floor sections of the corner staircase from the seventh to the tenth floor to collapse. The building is currently undergoing a comprehensive assessment to determine any further structural integrity risks and ensure safety.
A preliminary investigation suggests a gas leak caused the explosion at 4 Blinova Street in Saratov. Governor Busargin of the Saratov region stated that efforts to clear the debris are expected to conclude today, with a full building inspection slated to begin on Saturday morning. Videos captured during the moment of the explosion clearly indicate that its epicenter was located on the upper floors of the structure.
A beer shop is situated directly opposite the affected building. The owner of the shop reported that his saleswoman, who resides in the high-rise, immediately rushed to search for her children after the explosion.
“My shop is right across, and the saleswoman was in such shock, crying, couldn`t say much. Her children were home. She immediately ran to find them. It was pure shock, screams, tears.”
All residents have been promptly evacuated due to the persisting threat of further collapse. Emergency services indicated that over 30 apartments may have suffered significant damage or complete destruction. Rescuers are continuing their search efforts beneath the rubble, as there is still a possibility of finding more individuals. Twenty specialists, including canine units and heavy machinery, are actively working at the emergency site.
The administrator of a nearby sauna confirmed the swift response of the emergency services.
“They aren`t letting anyone get close; everything`s cordoned off. I was at work when it happened; I heard a very, very loud explosion. My sauna`s windows face the courtyard, not Blinova Street. Emergency vehicles, especially fire trucks, arrived very quickly.”
Evacuated residents will be temporarily accommodated at the Sokil Hotel. Initially, a temporary shelter was established at nearby School No. 103. The school`s caretaker provided insights into the situation.
“Yes, the explosion was very loud; the building is only a few hundred meters from the school. We saw photos and information on Telegram channels, including roadwork. At first, we just heard the explosion, and then information started coming in that it was very close. People will be accommodated in the old school building, built in the 1960s, as the new building, completed last year, is not intended for this, despite its large size and spacious halls.”
The affected high-rise in Saratov was constructed in 2009. According to available data, the building was deemed structurally sound and had no emergency status. It features five entrances and 195 apartments, being a typical panel building with reinforced concrete floors and connected to a central gas supply. However, Konstantin Krokhin, chairman of the Moscow Housing Union, suggests that the nature of the destruction indicates the building was rather flimsy.
Konstantin Krokhin: “The issue with new constructions is often a lack of proper building supervision. For example, in Makhachkala, there were recent fatal incidents in 14-story buildings with gas, which is explicitly forbidden for structures exceeding 10 stories. Gas was supplied to this particular 10-story building, which is permissible by design. However, when I observed the aftermath, I was struck by the building`s apparent fragility. It cannot be ruled out that the building`s own structural design contributed to such a collapse. For at least the past 20 years, builders and developers have sought to economize on everything, including construction materials and structural solutions, which directly impacts construction costs and overall strength. The fact that authorities evacuated residents from other sections further supports the idea that the nature of the damage could impact adjacent parts. Historically, for safety, wooden windows were preferred to allow gas to dissipate outwards. If this doesn`t happen, gas permeates walls and floors, escalating damage during a collapse. Such a significant downward collapse implies weak structural components. These `house of cards` panel buildings, where panels are welded directly to rebar, are characteristic of the 1990s; they are not typically constructed this way now, especially in seismic zones. However, we must, of course, await the official expert examination results.”
The Saratov Prosecutor`s Office has initiated an investigation into the gas explosion at the high-rise building.
