YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. During the planning process for the modernization of power transmission lines in the southern part of Sakhalin, objects of significant cultural and historical value have been identified, as reported by the press service of Sakhalinenergo.

According to the company, energy specialists discovered remnants of a dugout from the Russo-Japanese War period (1904-1905), as well as a dwelling depression with an embankment and various ancient artifacts, including stone axes, ceramic fragments, and tool blanks.

In a statement, Sakhalinenergo announced plans to conduct archaeological excavations along the Sakhalinskaya GRES-2 – Uglegavodskaya power line. These works, covering a total area of 500 square meters, will be performed manually without heavy machinery and are expected to conclude by the end of September this year.

The energy holding`s press service emphasized the critical importance of the planned power line for the island`s energy system stability. This line acts as a vital link, connecting Sakhalinskaya GRES-2 with Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya TPP, thereby ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply to the Dolinsky district. The implementation of the program for ensuring the stable operation of the power grid complex is under the personal supervision of Governor Valery Limarenko.
