CNC Freezes €3 Million Annual Fund for Online Creators Following Controversy

The French National Centre for Cinema and Animated Image (CNC) has announced the indefinite suspension of a €3 million annual fund designated for online content creators and streamers. This significant decision comes after the institution had initially scheduled to unveil a revised version of its support fund for digital creators.

Instead of the anticipated presentation, Pauline Augrain, the CNC’s Digital Director, delivered a crisis statement to a visibly surprised audience. The announcement confirms that the €3 million allocated annually for this initiative will now remain blocked indefinitely. The commission tasked with overseeing the fund’s operations and review is currently facing an uncertain path forward following this unexpected development.
