Dash Crofts, a pivotal figure in defining the smooth, laid-back sound of yacht rock, has passed away at the age of 85. As one half of the celebrated duo Seals and Crofts, he co-created enduring 1970s hits like ‘Summer Breeze’ and ‘Diamond Girl’, leaving an indelible mark on popular music.
The news of his passing was shared on social media by Louie Shelton, the duo’s producer, who expressed his sorrow. Shelton wrote, “Sad to hear our dear brother and partner in music has passed away today. Sending love and prayers to all his family and many fans. R.I.P. my brother…..Dash Crofts.”
A family member later confirmed that Crofts’ death resulted from complications following recent heart surgery.
