‘Double Standards’ Alleged as Instagram Removes Erin O’Connor’s Pregnancy Photos Again

Model Erin O’Connor has vocalized her concerns regarding the inconsistency of social media content policies, specifically after Instagram repeatedly took down two nude photographs she had shared on Mother’s Day. The images, celebrating her heavily pregnant body, were initially removed, then reinstated, and subsequently removed once more by the platform.

O’Connor, now 48, posted the photos, originally taken in 2014 when she was eight and a half months pregnant with her son Albert. The supermodel shared these powerful images of herself “naked and in her full power” to commemorate Mother’s Day, only to have Meta’s platform flag them for breaching its nudity guidelines.

The incident has prompted O’Connor to advocate for “clearer, more context-sensitive guidelines” from social media platforms, suggesting that current policies may demonstrate ‘double standards’ when applied to different forms of artistic or celebratory nudity, particularly in the context of motherhood and the female form.
