Forecasters at Business FM predict that the high temperatures will be accompanied by “tropical nights.” In light of the heatwave, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has advised the public to observe fire safety precautions and avoid open flames.

Rain showers are receding, though this applies primarily to Moscow itself. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has warned of continued rain and thunderstorms in the surrounding region today, while the capital is set to experience temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius. This dry, hot weather pattern is expected to persist in Moscow throughout the weekend. Meteorologist and Meteoweb project weather observer Alexey Safonov commented that these high temperatures will also bring “tropical nights.”
“Moscow will finally get a break from tropical downpours, with no significant precipitation expected until the end of next week,” stated Alexey Safonov. “Saturday and Sunday promise very comfortable conditions, with daytime temperatures around +26…+28°C and nighttime lows of +14…+17°C, all without rain. Only towards the end of the week, around July 31st or August 1st, is there a chance for temperatures to approach the 30-degree mark. Truly hot, `tropical` nights are anticipated by the middle of next week; while temperatures are currently comfortable, by Wednesday they could reach +19…+20°C, or even +21°C in the city center. This will, of course, be difficult for our population to endure, as Muscovites are generally quite concerned about such heat, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Tropical nights are far from over; summer continues, and something tells me that at least the first two weeks of August will be just as sunny, rich in warmth and sunshine.”
Given the high temperatures, the MES reiterated its recommendations for fire safety and avoiding open flames. The Department of Transport also advised drivers to open car doors and windows before starting their journey to release trapped hot air, and to avoid immediately turning off their engines after parking.
