Edinburgh International Festival Director Highlights US Creativity and Cruelty

The upcoming August festival is set to feature its most extensive jazz program yet, complemented by full-scale operatic performances and traditional Scottish folk music. According to the festival’s director, this year’s Edinburgh International Festival will present American art that both celebrates the nation’s innovative spirit and vitality, and critically examines its inherent cruelty and hypocrisy.

Nicola Benedetti, the acclaimed Grammy-award winning violinist now curating her fourth festival, underscored that this exploration has become more crucial than ever, particularly in the wake of Donald Trump’s influential second term as president.
