Europe Accuses Snapchat of Deliberately Endangering Children

Following intense scrutiny of TikTok and X, Snapchat is now firmly in the sights of Brussels. Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, issued a direct statement, asserting that Snapchat has seemingly disregarded the Digital Services Act (DSA). This crucial legislation imposes strict safety standards designed to protect users.

According to Virkkunen, the platform’s alleged failure to adhere to these regulations suggests a potential oversight regarding the well-being of its younger users. The European Commission is particularly concerned about platforms that do not fully implement the necessary safeguards mandated by law to ensure a secure online environment for all, especially children.
