A tattered manuscript page containing Bob Dylan’s lyrics for his 1967 track “I’m Not There” is slated for auction in April, with an estimated value of £40,000. Nearly six decades after its creation by Dylan, this fragmented page of lined paper, featuring a draft of “I’m Not There,” was recently unearthed within a paperback by Allen Ginsberg.
In the summer of 1967, near Woodstock, New York, Dylan collaborated with his then-backing band, The Band, to compose and record over 100 songs, among them “I’m Not There.” While a selection from these recordings was issued by Columbia Records eight years subsequently, many tracks, including “I’m Not There,” saw their release spread out over several subsequent decades.
