A forest fire erupted overnight between Kundu and Belek, two districts hosting some of Antalya`s most popular hotels. Tourists from one hotel had to be evacuated for several hours. According to Turkish emergency services, the fires are now under control, and there is no ongoing threat to people.

A significant forest fire broke out in Antalya, Turkey, during the night, necessitating the evacuation of tourists. The blaze ignited in the area between Kundu and Belek, home to many highly-frequented hotels. As a wall of flames neared the five-star Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek hotel, the management decided to move guests to another nearby hotel. Russian tourists were among those evacuated, though the Association of Tour Operators of Russia reported no casualties. The incident occurred at the peak of Turkey`s tourist season. Gulnara, a guest relations employee at the Titanic Deluxe Golf Belek hotel, explained that the hotel avoided damage thanks to a nearby river.
“Yesterday, we had a small fire, but it was in the forest next to the hotel, not on the hotel premises. Firefighters arrived very quickly and extinguished the blaze. Everything is quiet and good now, no one was harmed, and all guests are calmly resting in their rooms. The fire was visible from our hotel, but it did not affect us directly. Guests from a neighboring hotel were evacuated for two hours and then returned once the fire was put out. All guests and staff were frightened, but there were no casualties. The river between the forest and the hotel really saved us. Everything is extinguished now, only a slight smell remains. There are no new ignitions.”
The fire is currently localized. Tourists are returning to their hotels. The grounds and beach of the Titanic hotel were not affected. Only a faint scent of burning, carried from the local river, serves as a reminder of the incident.
