The Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISEF) has released video footage demonstrating a significant surge in the Sun`s flare activity.
According to a statement from the laboratory, a total of 17 solar flares were recorded between July 11 and July 12.
Scientists indicate that this level of flare activity represents approximately a threefold increase compared to the average values observed during July.
Astronomers have noted a rapid expansion in both the number and size of active regions on the Sun, including areas located on the far side that are currently not visible from Earth.
Earlier today, two M-class flares, which are considered strong, were detected on the Sun`s left limb. The released video specifically captures one of these events, an M1.4 flare, which reached its peak intensity at 07:02 Moscow time. A second, more powerful M2.3 flare was registered later today at 11:34.
