A profound energy crisis is gripping India, with citizens increasingly finding it impossible to secure essential cooking gas. Many fear the repercussions, stating, “It’s impossible to find gas. If this continues, I’ll have to close down.” This critical situation, largely attributed to the escalating conflict in the Middle East, is compelling a significant portion of the population to revert to the traditional method of cooking with firewood.
In New Delhi, the principal opposition party, the Congress, has launched protests against the steep price increases and severe shortages of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders. These supply disruptions are a direct consequence of the ongoing war, particularly in Iran, which has significantly impacted global energy markets and supply chains reaching India.
