Engineers in St. Petersburg have successfully developed a comprehensive video surveillance system aimed at significantly enhancing the safety of maritime vessels.
This innovative system is designed to continuously monitor the crew`s condition and ensure the overall security of ships during their voyages. The project is a collaborative effort between the St. Petersburg-based company “Armada” and the MTS digital ecosystem. The intelligent complex has already been effectively deployed on port tugboats.
The domestically developed surveillance system is strategically installed at critical points across eight tugboats, including the captain`s bridge, bow, and stern. Additionally, dedicated points for crew status checks are integrated onboard. The system operates on the “Sfera” software and hardware complex, which facilitates real-time monitoring of the situation on vessels. Furthermore, it enables the crew to transmit large volumes of data promptly to the port, securing it in a protected cloud storage. Data transmission is ensured through a robust cellular communication network.
Evgenia Cherkasskikh, CEO of “Armada,” emphasized the critical importance of a holistic approach to maritime safety. She stated that the success of sea voyages, the security of cargo, and, most importantly, human lives, are directly dependent on both the crew`s well-being and the vessel`s technical equipment.
In related news, Nikolai Patrushev, Chairman of the Maritime Board, announced in late July that a revised draft shipbuilding program for the Russian Navy, extending until 2050, is scheduled to be presented to President Vladimir Putin in September.
