‘It feels like flying!’ Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe on child stardom, passion and the heady rush of Romeo and Juliet

Fresh from their acclaimed roles in *Stranger Things* and the Oscar-nominated *Hamnet*, young stars Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe are embarking on a new theatrical journey, portraying Shakespeare’s iconic star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, in the West End. The duo recently shared insights into their unexpected dive into classical theatre, their evolving on-stage chemistry, and even touched upon modern dating apps and the unique perspectives they’ve brought to director Robert Icke’s vision.

During their conversation, Jupe and Sink playfully compared their Shakespearean credentials. “Noah definitely has more Shakespeare experience than I do, for sure,” Sink admitted. Jupe concurred, “Oh yes, I think so.” When asked about the extent of his classical repertoire, Jupe proudly stated, “Quite a few lines, actually. More than 10!” Indeed, Jupe’s experience is notable; just two summers ago, at the age of 19, he tackled the monumental role of Hamlet. He delivered the legendary “To be or not to be?” soliloquy on a stage replicating Shakespeare’s Globe theatre, a performance captured in Chloé Zhao’s critically praised film adaptation of *Hamnet*.
