‘It’s going to upset the balance’: how will Paramount buying Warner Bros change Hollywood?

While Warner Bros recently celebrated a remarkable triumph at the Academy Awards with films like *Sinners* and *One Battle After Another*, its future, and indeed the landscape of Hollywood, faces significant uncertainty. The studio garnered an impressive 11 Oscars for *One Battle After Another*, *Sinners*, and *Weapons*, matching the record for the most accolades achieved by a single film company. In stark contrast, Paramount failed to secure a single nomination.

Despite this disparity, Paramount is reportedly on the verge of acquiring Warner Bros in a colossal $111 billion deal, a scenario some describe as a ‘minnow swallowing a whale’. Should regulatory bodies give their approval, this consolidation would fundamentally alter the structure of Hollywood, causing apprehension among actors, directors, writers, and millions of cinema-goers about what lies ahead.
