FC Baltika, the sensation of the football season, suffered its first defeat. A last-minute goal from CSKA`s Diveyev secured a 1-0 victory, propelling the Army Men to first place while Baltika`s impressive unbeaten streak ended as they dropped to sixth.

Spartak predictably secured a 3-0 home win against Pari NN, with goals from Ugalde and two by Gedson. Meanwhile, CSKA, much like in the previous round, managed to snatch a victory without displaying a spectacular performance. The referee was checking his watch, allowing just enough time for one final corner kick. Kislyak headed the ball towards the goalmouth, and Diveyev seized the opportunity, scoring the winning goal. After recovering from an acute respiratory viral infection that caused him to miss the previous match against Sochi, Igor Diveyev returned to bring the Army Men this crucial victory and, with it, the championship lead. Baltika`s impressive nine-match unbeaten streak has now come to an end. Naturally, the visiting coach, Andrei Talalaev, expressed his disappointment:
“It`s unpleasant to lose in the final minutes, but that doesn`t make it any easier. We played against a strong team. Currently, CSKA and Krasnodar are arguably the only two teams in Russia playing what resembles proper football. I congratulate the Army Men on being in the title race. However, their fans should consider that, in their last six matches without penalties or red cards, they haven`t secured a single victory. Consequently, I didn`t witness anything extraordinary in terms of quality today. In my opinion, this is because my lads executed our game plan perfectly. Our strategy was to wear them down in the first half and then look for counter-attacks in the second. However, Andrade`s sending-off somewhat disrupted our plans.”
Andrade`s red card came late in the game, and Kaliningrad simply ran out of steam. Lokomotiv, occupying second place right behind CSKA, didn`t particularly impress in their home game against Rubin. However, the reason for this was clear: the absence of key wing players Pinyaev and Bakaev forced a tactical reshuffle. The head coach light-heartedly suggested calling this forced solution “Galaktionov`s quadrangle.” Regarding the leadership questions—Lokomotiv had held the top spot for a full day—coach Galaktionov currently prefers to downplay expectations:
“It`s clear that the league table is very tight, and any misstep can cause a team to drop,” Galaktionov noted. “You can see that, in terms of quality and level, any team can beat any other. The preparation of opponents today is exceptionally high. There are no easy matches where you can comfortably achieve a result. Therefore, organization, discipline, and the level of preparation of each team will determine everything. And, of course, individual players who can make a difference. It was crucial for us to calm the team internally after our recent series of draws, to ensure the players remained focused and executed their actions correctly.”
Indeed, individual talent often makes the difference. Lokomotiv captain Barinov took a chance with a long-range shot, securing a 1-0 victory for his team. Dynamo successfully traveled to Samara, winning 3-2. Zenit crushed Orenburg 5-2 at Gazprom Arena. Krasnodar played to a goalless draw away against Rostov. Stanislav Cherchesov became the first coach in Akhmat`s history to start his tenure with seven undefeated matches, as the Grozny team comfortably defeated Akron 3-0.
