Long-awaited Warm Weather Returns to Moscow by Weekend

Moscow is set to experience a welcome return of warmth this weekend, with daytime temperatures potentially reaching 27 degrees Celsius and nighttime lows around 17 degrees. This pleasant weather is expected to continue into the beginning of next week.

On Thursday, Moscow anticipates no precipitation, though scattered showers might occur in the northern parts of the region. Daytime temperatures will not exceed 20 degrees, dropping to 12 degrees overnight. Friday will see similar daytime conditions, possibly with some rain, but the night will remain relatively mild, around 18 degrees.

Genuine summer weather is predicted for the weekend, according to Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist from the “Meteonovosti” information portal.

Pozdnyakova states: “The weekend promises magnificent weather. Atmospheric pressure will be normal or slightly elevated. With variable cloudiness, no precipitation is expected on Saturday or Sunday. Nights will be quite warm, with minimum temperatures in Moscow ranging from 13-16 degrees, and across the region, 10-15 degrees on Saturday and 12-17 degrees on Sunday – almost like July values for minimum temperatures.”

“The same can be said for daytime temperatures: maximums on Saturday and Sunday in the city will be 25-27 degrees, and regionally 22-27 degrees. This means temperatures will be 5-7 degrees above the climatic norm, making it feel almost like July, if we disregard the significantly shorter daylight hours. The warm weather will persist into early next week, which couldn`t be better for holiday events. However, daytime temperatures are expected to be slightly lower, around 20-25 degrees, indicating a gradual cooling trend for the week ahead.”

When asked about a potential return of warm weather later, Pozdnyakova responded affirmatively. She noted that while another warm spell is likely, its intensity remains uncertain. She doesn`t anticipate temperatures reaching 30 degrees in September but considers 24-25 degrees to be a favorable outcome should it occur.

Regarding the `Indian summer` (babye leto), she expects it around mid-month but stressed that an official September forecast is not yet available.

Forecasters indicate that the warm weather in the capital region will extend through the first ten days of September, with a shift to less favorable conditions expected in Central Russia during the latter half of the month.
