Mishustin Approves Academic Degree Recognition Agreement with Abkhazia

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, has given his approval to a draft agreement with Abkhazia concerning the mutual recognition of academic degrees. The relevant directive has been published on the official legal acts portal.

According to the document, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, in consultation with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and after preliminary discussions with the Abkhazian side, presented this “Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia on the mutual recognition of academic degrees” for approval.

The Ministry of Education and Science has been tasked with conducting further negotiations with the Abkhazian party. Once an agreement is reached, the Ministry is authorized to sign the aforementioned agreement on behalf of the Russian government, with the flexibility to incorporate non-fundamental modifications into the draft.
