Moscow Anticipates July-Like Heat on Final August Weekend

Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 26-29 degrees Celsius, exceeding the climatic norm by seven degrees. No precipitation is expected.

Moscow and the surrounding region are set for a hot weekend. On August 30th and 31st, thermometers are expected to climb up to 29°C. Nighttime temperatures will range between +15°C and +19°C.

Business representatives were asked how they plan to spend the final days of summer and what their weekend arrangements include.

Maxim Ulyanov, Independent financial expert, investor:

“I am seeing off the last days of summer with a sense of bewilderment at how quickly it flew by. This year, it was probably particularly imperceptible for several reasons. I spent about a month in Murmansk, sailing to the North Pole, seeing snow in summer. And this year, there was no summer break in my professional activities: what started in May never ended. I really hope the weather this weekend will allow for a barbecue; I have a trip to my dacha planned. This is a desire I couldn`t fulfill in the previous summer months. So, formally, I want to execute the plan – to barbecue at the dacha in good outdoor weather.”

Irina Dobrokhotova, Founder of “Best-Novostroy” and bnMAP.pro:

“Coincidentally, it’s my husband’s birthday at the end of summer, and our whole family went to Bali. On the island, we went diving, saw turtles, everything imaginable. On September 1st, naturally, everyone will go to school, and on Sunday, we fly back to Moscow. But we spent our vacation in Bali; it`s actually peak season in Indonesia. We surfed and dove.”

Dmitry Azarov, Entrepreneur, restaurateur:

“We always eagerly await summer because our summer is short, and the anticipation of it is practically a year-round state. It comes and goes so quickly. The last days of summer are always especially precious; they promise hot weather in Moscow, so I’m heading out of the city. This week, I also managed to go with my family to St. Petersburg; there’s a wonderful hotel there on a lake, in a forest, very natural and peaceful. We`re preparing for autumn.”

Arkady Usachev, Founder and CEO of “Delicate Relocation” company:

“We spent the last days of summer on Lake Baikal. First, we went to the south of Buryatia, to the mountains on motorcycles, spent a week there, and then returned. Now we`re along the eastern shore of Baikal, heading as far north as possible, living in tents, enjoying nature, the weather, delicious food, and sometimes the sun. Our vacation just happened to fall at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn.”

Alina Akinshina, General Director of “Online Patent” company:

“The weekend is excellent, surprisingly, of course, after such a terribly cold week. Wonderful. The last weekend of summer. I think Moscow has noticed it, because there are huge crowds strolling at VDNKh with excellent spirits. We are awaiting a surge in business activity. Well, in fact, the business season is gradually beginning, everyone is returning from vacations. I will spend the last Sunday of summer in one of Moscow`s parks.”

Timur Irtuganov, General Director of the Association of Furniture and Woodworking Industry Enterprises of Russia:

“My family and I are currently in the beautiful city of Zelenogradsk in the Kaliningrad region. This is our first time here, but for us, exploring new places in Russia isn’t a new concept. We came for the first time and don’t regret it. The weather has been varied. But despite the weather, the service is excellent, and it’s a wonderful city. We are once again convinced that to see any kind of scenery that exists on Earth, it’s not necessary to travel outside the Russian Federation. As Muscovites, we are, of course, delighted by the architecture, which is untypical for the capital. It’s a feast for the eyes here. And the city is clean, although the embankment is currently under renovation. But it’s clear that to get something better, one must first endure a little inconvenience. Therefore, we will definitely return here, but in the tourist center, everything is wonderful. Excellent service, cleanliness, a beautiful park, its own atmosphere – a new tick mark in our collection of impressions. I swam in the Baltic Sea; the water was about 15 degrees, and I couldn`t last more than 10 minutes. I repeat, the impressions are most pleasant. Yes, we will still be here tomorrow.”

Roman Kvinikadze, Co-founder and CEO of NappyClub:

“The days are great overall. We spent the first half of the day walking around historical Moscow on a tour about which buildings survived the 1812 fire, walking and looking at all the architecture and so on. Everything that remains of the historical buildings, what exists now, is typical, rather monotonous glass construction, and in my opinion, it very much demonstrates a lack of imagination. It feels like back then, after the fires when Moscow burned down, there was also a certain type of typical construction. So, we literally walked and compared, and 200 years later, there`s no difference; all projects are typical, although some projects were outstanding. Such examples also exist in modern Moscow, but generally, everything is very typical. We’re going out of town to walk, barbecue meat, and swim.”

Furthermore, the summer weather is expected to linger in Moscow throughout the first week of September. Temperatures are anticipated to be two to three degrees above average, with the air warming up to +24°C, according to Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia. He promised sunny weather with very few clouds.
