Moscow Braces for Autumn: Significant Cooling Expected from Tuesday

Moscow is preparing for a notable shift in its weather patterns. This Saturday, temperatures are anticipated to reach no higher than 17°C. Sunday promises a slight improvement with somewhat clearer skies. However, Monday is expected to be the last truly warm day of the year, with temperatures potentially climbing to 25°C.

A cold front is set to impact Moscow this Saturday, bringing daytime highs of no more than 17°C. Sunday will offer a brief respite with slightly better weather. Nonetheless, Monday will serve as the final warm day, with temperatures reaching up to 25°C, before a dramatic drop to 17°C, and then 13°C, starting Tuesday. This signals the definitive arrival of autumn. Despite the impending chill, Alexey Safonov, a weather observer for the Meteoweb project, notes that for now, conditions will remain predominantly cloudy, and no frosts are expected.

“Only a few warm days are left. Some have already experienced the full essence of autumn today, marked by rain and temperatures notably lower than previous days. Today, temperatures will not rise above 16°C; it will be cloudy with some clearings, resembling autumnal weather. However, a brief warm spell is still expected. While Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures around 17-19°C, Monday`s forecast, due to a warm air mass associated with an incoming cyclone, predicts a full 25°C. This day will likely be windy, making for interesting weather. So, for those who haven`t fully embraced summer, Monday offers a final opportunity to enjoy 25-degree warmth. Nights, too, will remain mild, around 16-17°C. By the end of the week, specifically by the following weekend, temperatures will start to decline, bringing intermittent but daily rainfall. Consequently, by the end of next week, daytime temperatures will fall to 11°C, and nighttime lows will be between 3-5°C. Overall, the weather will be quite unstable, with fluctuations in atmospheric pressure, temperature, wind on certain days, and precipitation. Still, we are looking forward to 25°C on Monday. With cloudy skies currently, nighttime temperatures will not drop below 9°C, at least for now. We won`t see frosts like those observed in the first half of September yet.”
