Moscow Region Awaits Warmth: Late August Recovery and September’s Indian Summer

Following a recent period of cool and rainy weather in the Moscow region, meteorologists are predicting a return to warm and sunny conditions by the end of August, with a favorable forecast for an extended “Indian Summer” in September.

Temperatures in the capital are expected to rise again to +20 degrees Celsius by late August. Some meteorologists attribute this warming to the remnants of Hurricane Erin, which could form a cyclone moving across Europe and potentially affecting areas just north of Moscow. A traditional “Indian Summer” is also anticipated in September.

If we overlook a brief cold spell at the start of the next work week, significant warming is expected in the last days of August. As early as August 29, there is a high probability that the air in the Moscow region will warm up to +20 degrees, and by August 30-31, the mercury could rise slightly above this mark.

I don`t specifically consider the hurricane`s direct impact, but all our weather-forming currents originate from the North Atlantic. It`s plausible that this hurricane from the North Atlantic could bring a portion of warm air that will eventually reach us. While temperatures might briefly drop after the passage of an atmospheric front, the maximum values for August 30th and 31st are still expected to be above +20 degrees. It`s still a bit early to name the exact temperature, but the probability of 20+ is very high.

Regarding the immediate future: Yes, it`s predicted to be cold. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, +12…+17 °C.

Will there be rain? Yes, rain is included in forecasts almost every day. There might be some clearings in the clouds mid-week on Thursday, but strong rain is expected again on Friday, with a lighter shower on Tuesday. Additionally, strong winds will be present in the first half of the week. We expect winds to weaken from Thursday to two to seven meters per second.

Such periods of rising temperatures up to +20 degrees will also occur in September; how they will be distributed, I cannot say right now. We will not leave our women without an Indian summer.
