Heavy rains are expected to return to Moscow on Monday evening. Forecasters predict that the capital could receive up to half of its monthly precipitation norm in a single day. Rainy weather will persist into Tuesday. On Monday, air temperatures will reach up to +25 degrees Celsius, with no strong winds anticipated. What will the weather be like for the rest of the upcoming week?
Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, stated, “The celestial office has surprises in store for us.”
“Weather fronts across Central Russia will bring unsettled conditions, truly holding `surprises from the celestial office.` On Monday night and in the early morning hours, isolated fog patches with visibility under 1 kilometer are possible in the capital region. Minimum temperatures in Moscow will range from +14 to +17 degrees Celsius. During the day, barometric pressure will drop sharply due to a southern cyclonic depression, which is currently causing heavy rains in southern Russia.
The peak of abnormal rainfall is expected on Monday evening: between 3 PM and 9 PM, central Moscow could receive up to 36 millimeters of precipitation, with daytime temperatures not exceeding +22 to +25 degrees. The intense downpours will continue until mid-Tuesday; within a 24-hour period, from 3 PM on August 4th to 3 PM on August 5th, the capital might see up to 80 millimeters of rain. This nearly matches the entire August climatic norm, which stands at 79 millimeters.
Tuesday night temperatures are forecast to be +15-18 degrees, rising to +23-26 during the day. By Wednesday, the weather will improve: morning temperatures of +13-16, climbing to +24-27 in the afternoon. Thursday will start without precipitation, but by afternoon, under the influence of a cold front, showers will resume, potentially adding up to 13 millimeters of rain. This will cool the air to the August norm of +20-23 degrees. Precipitation will cease by Friday, with overnight lows around +10 degrees and daytime highs not exceeding +20. On Saturday and Sunday, night temperatures will be +9-14 degrees, and midday temperatures will warm up to a comfortable +25 degrees.”

Meanwhile, other regions of Russia are bracing for anomalous heat. The Hydrometeorological Center reported that air temperatures will exceed the climatic norm by 5-9 degrees Celsius in nine regions across the country. High temperatures are forecast for Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions, Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Okrugs, as well as Karelia, Chechnya, Ingushetia, Sakhalin Oblast, and Primorsky Krai.
