The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that fraudsters are mimicking Telegram investment bots to deceive citizens for financial gain.
Scammers have launched a sophisticated new scheme targeting Russians through Telegram bots meticulously designed to imitate legitimate investment platforms. This crucial warning comes directly from the press center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by the TASS news agency.
The Ministry further elaborated that these cybercriminals expertly leverage advertising campaigns and various social engineering tactics to convince unsuspecting individuals of an automated, highly profitable method for trading cryptocurrencies or securities. Once trust is established, victims are then directed to a specific bot that convincingly simulates real-time investment transactions and financial growth.
Users interacting with these fraudulent bots are presented with visuals of “growing profits” and seemingly successful trades. This illusion of rapid financial gain powerfully encourages them to commit not only their personal savings but often also significant borrowed funds. However, as the Ministry decisively concluded, these users invariably fall victim to a deep deception, losing their entire investments.
In a separate and disturbing incident previously reported, a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Moscow, under the direct instructions of cunning fraudsters, illicitly accessed her parents` safe. Following further commands from the scammers, who had threatened her with severe criminal prosecution, she tragically set their apartment on fire. The young girl sustained injuries during the fire.
