Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has presented Elon Musk, head of SpaceX, with a compact supercomputer. This significant announcement was made in a company press release, highlighting a notable moment in the collaboration between two tech giants.
Introducing the DGX Spark
Nvidia had previously unveiled the DGX Spark, which the company proudly hails as the world`s smallest artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer. To personally deliver this cutting-edge device, Huang traveled to SpaceX headquarters. The company emphasized the symbolic nature of this gift, recalling that Elon Musk had also received Nvidia`s very first AI computer, the DGX-1, back in 2016, marking a continued tradition of technological exchange.
Jensen Huang`s visit to the SpaceX chief coincided with Musk and his team`s preparations for a crucial Starship launch. Huang lightheartedly commented on the contrast:
“Imagine delivering the smallest supercomputer next to the largest rocket.”
This remark underscored the diverse scale of innovation present at SpaceX.

Nvidia states that the DGX Spark is specifically engineered to empower developers, engineers, and researchers. The computer delivers an impressive one petaflop of power, making it a robust tool for advanced computations. Notably, it is designed to operate independently of large data centers, thereby facilitating efficient and localized neural network training processes. Equipped with a substantial 128 gigabytes of unified memory, its creators emphasized its suitability for running complex local AI models with up to 200 billion parameters.
The DGX Spark is scheduled to go on sale starting October 15, with an accessible price point of $3,000, aiming to make powerful AI capabilities more accessible.
SpaceX`s Future Endeavors
The gifting event occurred shortly after SpaceX completed the final launch of its Starship V2 rocket on the night of October 14. This marks a transition, as the Starship V2 will soon be succeeded by the eagerly anticipated Starship V3. The technology giant intends to utilize Starship V3 for its ambitious future missions, including groundbreaking journeys to the Moon and Mars, pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
