In the federal territory of Sirius, Vladimir Putin conducted a visit to the Science and Technology University. During his time there, he familiarized himself with the operations of the university`s project, analytical, and chemical laboratories. He also held a meeting with young scientists, taking the opportunity to explain the objectives of his visit.
“I was particularly keen to observe the progress made over these ten years – from the very first step on September 1, 2015, up to today. I see that the development has been very substantial. In addition to the school, a university has emerged, along with a laboratory complex covering a wide array of disciplines,” Putin remarked.
In 2020, the head of state signed a law establishing Sirius as a federal territory, which positioned it as a unique public legal entity with financial autonomy and its own assets. This special territory is also home to significant Olympic and major educational facilities.
The cutting-edge laboratory complex, which was inaugurated in September 2022, is equipped with the most modern facilities. It is designed to tackle a broad spectrum of challenges related to the application of genetic technologies in pharmaceuticals, medicine, and agriculture. Furthermore, it supports advanced research in areas such as genetics, immunology, medical biotechnologies, gene therapy, as well as plant biology and biotechnologies.
