Russian President Vladimir Putin has designated the newly established National Space Center as the central command headquarters for all Russian space activities. He emphasized that this facility is poised to significantly strengthen Moscow`s standing as the nation`s most vital platform for accelerated technological, industrial, and scientific development.
The National Space Center is strategically located in the western part of Moscow. This advanced complex will serve as the new home for employees of Roscosmos, Russia`s state space corporation, and will also host staff from several private companies. Notably, representatives from NASA are also expected to have a presence within this same building, fostering international collaboration.
“This is a true headquarters for managing Russian cosmonautics,” Putin stated during his address in Zaryadye on City Day. He further described it as “an established engineering and technical complex that seamlessly integrates science, education, and production. And, without a doubt, it reinforces Moscow`s role as the country`s most important hub for accelerated technological, industrial, and scientific advancement.”
The President underscored that the immediate priority is to fully utilize the extensive capabilities of the new space center and the capital`s comprehensive information infrastructure. The goal is to support the innovative ideas of the younger generation of researchers and engineers, and to unite efforts with companies, higher educational institutions, and enterprises across not only Moscow but also other regions of the country.
