MOSCOW. The press service of Roscosmos has announced that the head of the Russian space corporation, Dmitry Bakanov, is scheduled to hold discussions with acting NASA Administrator Sean Duffy on July 31.
This forthcoming meeting holds significant importance as it will be the first direct conversation between the leaders of the two major space agencies since 2018. The agenda for these talks is expected to cover a range of current and prospective joint projects in space exploration.
According to statements released by the Roscosmos press service, Bakanov intends to address the continuation of the cross-flight program, an essential element of ongoing cooperation. Furthermore, discussions will encompass the critical issue of extending the operational lifespan of the International Space Station (ISS). A key topic will also be the activities of the joint Russian-American working group, which is tasked with planning the future safe deorbiting of the ISS and its controlled re-entry for a targeted splashdown in a designated oceanic area.
