Roscosmos Conducts Successful Ground Fire Test of New Soyuz-5 Rocket First Stage

The State Space Corporation Roscosmos has announced the successful completion of ground fire tests for the first stage of its newest Soyuz-5 rocket.

These critical tests took place at the Rocket and Space Industry Scientific Test Center. During the test, the oxygen-kerosene engine RD-171MV, boasting a thrust of 800 tons, operated continuously for 160 seconds. The onboard systems` interaction was thoroughly verified during this period.

Roscosmos representatives further noted that the tested stage will also serve as the first stage for a future super heavy-lift rocket.

The space agency specifically highlighted that the successful conclusion of these tests paves the way for the maiden launch of the Soyuz-5 rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome later this year.
