MOSCOW — Dmitry Bakanov, the head of Roscosmos, recently met with Sean Duffy, the acting administrator of NASA, during a visit to the United States. Their discussions, as announced by Roscosmos on Thursday, primarily focused on ongoing collaborative efforts concerning the International Space Station (ISS), lunar programs, and the broader exploration of deep space.
This significant encounter marks the first in-person meeting between the leaders of the two prominent space agencies since 2018. According to a statement released by the Russian state corporation via its Telegram channel, both Dmitry Bakanov and Sean Duffy, who also serves as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, engaged in constructive negotiations.
Roscosmos further clarified that the agenda for these talks included a comprehensive review of future operations for the International Space Station, potential avenues for cooperation on ambitious lunar missions, joint initiatives for deep space exploration, and a commitment to continuing interaction on various other space-related projects.
