According to the video`s description, Moscow experienced record-breaking rainfall, surpassing a historical record set way back in 1879. This makes July 21, 2025, the wettest such day in 146 years. “Our satellites captured how the adverse weather over the capital appeared from space today,” the description highlighted.
The creation of this striking video relied on data collected by Roscosmos`s Elektro-L and Arktika-M satellites. The intensity of the precipitation was further corroborated by Tatyana Pozdnyakova, the chief meteorologist at Moscow`s meteorological office, who confirmed that Monday, July 21, indeed saw a record amount of rainfall in certain areas of the Moscow region, the highest since 1879.
