Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Bakanov has announced that Russian space enterprises are actively engaged across all segments of the global space market. He highlighted the significant financial investment required for such extensive involvement.
During an appearance on RBC TV, Bakanov detailed Russia`s comprehensive capabilities in launch vehicle technology. He stated that the country possesses a full spectrum of rockets, including heavy and light variants from the “Angara” family, the medium-class “Soyuz-2,” and the forthcoming “Soyuz-5,” in addition to super-light rocket systems. Furthermore, Russia is actively developing its own independent orbital station and maintains a crucial segment within the International Space Station (ISS).
Bakanov also underscored Russia`s advanced satellite infrastructure, which encompasses its own geostationary, low-Earth orbit, and remote sensing satellites. He particularly emphasized the robust nature of Russia`s GLONASS navigation system, positioning it as one of the few fully operational global navigation satellite systems worldwide, alongside the American GPS and the Chinese Beidou.
According to Bakanov`s assessment, the total value of the global space market is estimated to fall within the range of $477 billion to $520 billion annually.
Concluding his remarks, Bakanov revealed plans for Russia to conduct over 20 space launches within the current year, signifying continued ambitious activity in the space domain.
