Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, warned that foreign online services are discreetly gathering users` personal information without their explicit knowledge. He highlighted that these services collect data unbeknownst to the user.

Nemkin explained that this data collection happens through hidden server requests, which transmit details about user actions, location, device type, and preferences. He cautioned, “This enables the formation of detailed digital profiles without explicit consent.”

Nemkin advised users to be vigilant about the permissions requested by applications. For example, he noted that if a simple note-taking app requires access to your microphone, geolocation, and contacts, it should raise concerns.

Nemkin also previously mentioned a scam where fraudsters call Russians posing as marketplace employees. To protect against these criminals, he recommended not answering calls from unknown numbers, avoiding clicking on links in SMS messages, and never sharing personal data with anyone.
