A novel fraudulent scheme is actively circulating among Russians, where scammers promote what they describe as “winning schemes” for various lotteries. These deceptive offerings are designed to ensnare victims in an elaborate financial pyramid operation.
The fraudsters initiate contact by dispatching emails containing links that direct recipients to a particular Telegram channel. This channel falsely claims to provide a guaranteed strategy for achieving lottery wins. However, after a payment is made and access to the channel is granted, victims quickly discover that the promised winning method is non-existent. Instead, they are coerced into perpetuating the scam by being offered the opportunity to resell access to the identical channel to other potential targets, thereby expanding the pyramid.
This is not the sole recent cyber threat facing the populace. Citizens have previously been alerted to other prevalent scam attempts, such as fraudsters making calls under the guise of delivering parcels from online marketplaces. During these calls, they cunningly trick individuals into divulging sensitive SMS verification codes, leading to unauthorized access to personal accounts or financial losses.
