Scientists Discover Reversible Male Birth Control That Stops Sperm Production

Cornell University scientists have achieved a significant breakthrough in the quest for male contraception, developing a potentially safe, reversible, and non-hormonal method that completely halts sperm production. In a groundbreaking study involving mice, researchers utilized a compound called JQ1 to temporarily suppress meiosis—the critical biological process responsible for creating sperm. Crucially, this intervention caused no lasting harm; once the treatment was discontinued, sperm production fully resumed, fertility was restored, and the animals successfully produced healthy offspring.
