Scientists Report Intense Sunspot Activity on the Sun

Specialists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences have recorded the emergence of more than a hundred new sunspots in a single active region of the Sun within a 24-hour period.

In an update shared via their official Telegram channel, the researchers characterized the events unfolding in active region No. 4197 as “absolute chaos.” They expressed considerable bewilderment regarding the significant amount of energy involved and its ultimate dissipation, especially given that, despite the rapid and intense formation of these numerous spots, not a single solar flare was observed in the area.
