Earth Enters Coronal Hole, Solar Wind Velocity Rises

Earth has recently entered a region heavily influenced by a coronal hole on the Sun, leading to an “explosive” increase in solar wind speed. This intensified solar wind is responsible for triggering a geomagnetic storm, according to reports from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“Based on the sudden surge in solar wind velocity, Earth has just plunged headfirst into a coronal hole. We will monitor the resilience of our planet`s magnetosphere. Currently, it remains within the `green zone`,” stated the laboratory in an announcement on its official Telegram channel.
The laboratory had previously informed on Tuesday that moderate geomagnetic storm conditions were anticipated to affect Earth within a 24-hour period.
