Rapid battery drain and significant heating can indicate a phone virus infection. The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced this through their Telegram channel “Herald of the Russian Cyberpolice,” identifying unusual device behavior as a key sign of compromise.
The MIA described symptoms such as the phone becoming noticeably slower, discharging quickly, spontaneously restarting, or getting excessively hot even when not actively in use. This erratic behavior is considered a strong indicator that the device may be infected with malicious software.
Furthermore, an infected device might display unfamiliar pop-up advertisements or notifications that were not present before. The presence of unknown applications on the phone that the owner did not install is another significant warning sign of a potential virus or malware infection.
The ministry also pointed out that even familiar applications might begin requesting strange or unnecessary permissions, such as demanding access to SMS messages, calls, or location data for apps that do not typically require them (like a simple photo album or flashlight app). Additionally, unexplained entries in call or SMS history, including unknown numbers or messages the user did not send, were listed as potential signs of a virus presence.
