Telegram Addresses Call Limitations in Russia

Representatives of the Telegram messenger informed RBC about their ongoing efforts to combat malicious content and fraudulent activities. This statement was made in response to Roskomnadzor`s measures to restrict calls within Russia.

The company emphasized that Telegram has for the first time implemented detailed privacy settings for voice calls. This allows users to independently decide who can call them or to completely disable the call function.

Furthermore, Telegram`s moderators actively remove numerous materials daily that are related not only to fraud but also to incitement to violence or subversive activities.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor announced restrictions on voice and video calls in Telegram and WhatsApp messengers. The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation clarified that access to these services would be restored once the companies comply with Russian legislation.
