Американская корпорация Tesla объявила о скором выпуске второго поколения своего спортивного электромобиля Roadster, о чем сообщает издание InsideEVs.

Вице-президент Tesla Ларс Морави подтвердил, что Roadster 2 станет заключительной моделью компании, предназначенной для активного управления водителем. Он пояснил, что стремительное развитие технологий автономного вождения приведет к тому, что будущие автомобили Tesla будут полностью беспилотными.

Морави назвал грядущий спорткар «лебединой песней» традиционных автомобилей, учитывая прогресс Tesla в области автономности. Точные сроки выхода электрокара он не раскрыл, но подчеркнул, что проект «определенно находится в разработке». «Мы готовимся к невероятной презентации. Как говорит Илон Маск, это будет “сногсшибательно”», — добавил Морави.

Журналисты InsideEVs напомнили, что прототип Roadster 2 был представлен еще в 2017 году, а его выпуск изначально планировался на 2020 год, но был отложен. По мнению Маска и Морави, концепция автомобиля с рулевым управлением может устареть, и Roadster символизирует последний значительный шаг Tesla в этом направлении.

Первое поколение Tesla Roadster, выпускавшееся с 2008 года, стало дебютным автомобилем компании Илона Маска. Этот двухдверный электрокар разгонялся до 100 км/ч за 4 секунды и имел максимальный запас хода в 400 км. Базовая версия стоила $109 000 (около 8,9 млн рублей).

В конце июля Ларс Морави также упомянул о планах Tesla по выпуску компактной версии пикапа Cybertruck.

Tesla Announces the “Last Driver`s Car”

The American corporation Tesla has announced the upcoming release of the second generation of its Roadster sports electric car, as reported by InsideEVs.

Lars Moravy, Tesla`s Vice President, confirmed that the Roadster 2 will be the company`s final model designed for active driver control. He explained that the rapid advancement of autonomous driving technologies means future Tesla vehicles will be fully self-driving.

Moravy described the forthcoming sports car as the “swan song” for traditional automobiles, considering Tesla`s progress in autonomy. While he did not disclose specific release dates, he emphasized that the project is “definitely under development.” “We are preparing for an incredible presentation. As Elon Musk says, it will be `mind-blowing`,” Moravy added.

InsideEVs journalists recalled that the Roadster 2 prototype was first unveiled in 2017, with its release initially planned for 2020 but subsequently delayed. According to Musk and Moravy, the concept of a car with a steering wheel might become obsolete, and the Roadster symbolizes Tesla`s last significant step in that direction.

The first-generation Tesla Roadster, produced from 2008, was Elon Musk`s company`s debut vehicle. This two-door electric car could accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4 seconds and had a maximum range of 400 km (249 miles). The base version was priced at $109,000 (approximately 8.9 million rubles at the time).

In late July, Lars Moravy also mentioned Tesla`s plans to release a compact version of the Cybertruck pickup.
