Tesla Robotaxis Attract Government Attention

Tesla`s autonomous taxi service has come under scrutiny from US regulators over reported rule violations, according to Bloomberg.

Federal safety authorities in the United States have begun investigating incidents where Tesla`s robotaxis allegedly violated traffic laws. Journalists noted that the domestic regulator took an interest in Elon Musk`s company`s passenger service just one day after it commenced operations.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed to reporters that they are aware of instances where Tesla`s self-driving vehicles violated traffic regulations. “Upon evaluation of reports and other relevant information, NHTSA will take appropriate action to protect safety,” stated representatives for the authorities.

According to journalists, following the launch of Tesla`s autonomous taxi service, videos surfaced on social media purportedly showing vehicles transporting passengers breaking traffic rules. The published videos reportedly depict robotaxis performing hazardous maneuvers, including driving into opposing lanes, sudden braking, and speeding. While the taxi operates on Autopilot, a human operator occupies the front passenger seat.

Earlier, American billionaire and activist Dan O`Dowd criticized Elon Musk`s Tesla autonomous taxi, branding it as “not genuine.” O`Dowd commented on the enthusiastic responses to the robotaxi launch on social media, saying, “Tesla cultists are celebrating victory.”
