Thousands of Authors Publish ‘Empty’ Book in Protest Over AI Using Their Work

Around 10,000 authors, including renowned figures like Kazuo Ishiguro, Philippa Gregory, and Richard Osman, have united to protest against AI companies utilizing their copyrighted material without consent. As part of their campaign, they have released a unique ’empty’ book titled Don’t Steal This Book, whose sole content is a comprehensive list of the participating writers’ names.

This publication is being distributed at the London Book Fair this Tuesday, coinciding with the anticipation of the UK government’s upcoming assessment regarding the economic implications of potential changes to copyright legislation.
