Traffic Disruptions in Central Moscow on October 4-5 Due to Half Marathon

Central Moscow will experience temporary road closures on October 4th and 5th as the city hosts the “My Capital” running festival and half marathon events.

This weekend marks the conclusion of the running season with the “My Capital” festival and half marathon, set to take place at Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills). On Saturday, October 4th, participants will compete in a 5-kilometer race, alongside children`s races covering distances of 300 and 600 meters. The events continue on Sunday, October 5th, with a 10-kilometer race and the main 21-kilometer half marathon.

Due to these significant sporting activities, several streets and embankments in the vicinity of the Luzhniki area will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic, impacting commuters and residents.

On Saturday, October 4th, vehicular movement will be restricted on Kosygin Street from Michurinsky Prospekt to Vernadsky Prospekt. These restrictions will be in effect from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Sunday, October 5th, will see more extensive closures. Traffic heading towards the city center on Vernadsky Prospekt and Luzhniki Bridge will be blocked from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Additionally, starting from 9:30 AM on the same day, the exit from Luzhniki Bridge onto Khamovnichesky Val Street, Frunzenskaya Embankment (from Luzhnetskaya Embankment to Krymsky Proezd), and Luzhnetskaya Embankment (from Frunzenskaya Embankment to Luzhniki Street) will be inaccessible. These particular restrictions are scheduled to be lifted by 1:00 PM.

Universitetskaya Square, however, will reopen to traffic later on Sunday, at 10:00 PM.

It is also important to note that parking will be prohibited in all affected areas for the duration of the events until their complete conclusion.
