Thousands of supporters of Ekrem Imamoglu, Istanbul’s mayor and a prominent rival of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, gathered outside the Marmara-Silivri penitentiary and judicial complex. This demonstration took place during his initial hearing regarding the charges brought against him, marking one year since his arrest.
