This night, a weak G1-level geomagnetic storm was recorded on Earth. According to scientists at the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy, part of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the planet`s geomagnetic environment has become disturbed due to the impact of rapid solar wind streams.
The initial disturbances began yesterday evening. The first brief G1-level storm, which represents the minimum on the five-point scale, occurred in the early hours of the morning. Researchers anticipate recurrent events of similar intensity within the next 24 hours, with a potential increase to category G2.
The probability of more severe storms (beyond G2) is currently estimated at less than 1%. Forecasts suggest that the Earth`s magnetosphere will remain in an unstable state for a duration not exceeding two days, with the peak of these geomagnetic disturbances expected to occur on July 23.
