Bhosle, a titan of Indian music, boasts a career encompassing over 12,000 songs, solidifying her position as one of Bollywood cinema’s most prolific and recognized voices. Her musical journey began early, influenced by her father, Deenanath Mangeshkar, a singer in Marathi theatre and film during the 1920s and 30s, and her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar, who also achieved fame as a Bollywood playback singer. Bhosle made her debut at the tender age of 10 in the Marathi film Maze Baal. In this early duet with Lata, Bhosle’s melismatic falsetto beautifully captures the playful innocence of the film’s central character.
