Tony Award-winning actress Christine Baranski is set to grace the West End stage for the first time, starring opposite Richard E. Grant in a new production of Noël Coward’s timeless comedy, “Hay Fever.” The acclaimed American star, widely recognized for her captivating performances in television series such as “The Good Fight” and “The Gilded Age,” expressed her enthusiasm for embodying the role of Judith Bliss. Baranski anticipates “tearing a passion to tatters” in Coward’s 1925 play, which centers on a theatrical family playfully manipulating their unsuspecting guests during a country house weekend.
Baranski will portray Judith Bliss, a recently retired actress, while Grant is slated to play her husband, a novelist. This marks a significant milestone in Baranski’s illustrious career, which includes two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play. She previously earned these accolades for her roles in New York productions of Tom Stoppard’s “The Real Thing” in 1984 and Neil Simon’s “Rumors” in 1989. Her Broadway credits also feature notable appearances in the comedies “Hurlyburly” (1985) and “Boeing-Boeing” (2008).
