PhotoEspaña 2026: From the US-Mexico Border to Protests in Poland

PhotoEspaña, Spain’s leading photography festival, officially opened in Madrid this month. By September, nearly 100 exhibitions will have showcased the work of more than 300 visual artists in the capital and across the country. Loosely organized under the theme of “reimagining,” the exhibitions feature contributions from major figures in Spanish and international photography, as well as less well-known emerging artists.

The exhibitions delve into a diverse range of subjects, including Alejandro Cartagena’s series “Invisible Line,” which focuses on the US-Mexico border, and photographs capturing protests in Poland.
