Charlize Theron, the acclaimed actress and former ballet dancer, has voiced her strong disapproval of Timothée Chalamet’s recent remarks that seemed to belittle ballet and opera performers. In an interview with The New York Times, Theron described Chalamet’s comments as “reckless.”
“Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” Theron stated, expressing her disappointment. She further elaborated, “That was a very reckless comment on two art forms that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time. But in 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live.”
Theron’s statement underscores the value and unique human element of live artistic performances, contrasting it with the potential for artificial intelligence to replicate other forms of acting in the future. Her perspective as a former dancer adds significant weight to the criticism directed at Chalamet’s remarks.
