V&A Faces Pressure to Become Living Wage Employer Ahead of Stratford Opening

Ahead of the grand opening of its new Stratford location, the V&A museum is facing significant pressure from campaigners to adopt the status of a living wage employer. Thousands have signed an open letter directed at the museum’s director, demanding a “fair day’s wage” for every worker across all V&A sites.

V&A East, set to open its doors in Stratford, east London, this Saturday, will feature an impressive collection of textiles, photographs, and material celebrating black British music. This new venue joins the V&A’s established institutions, including the original museum in South Kensington, Young V&A in Bethnal Green, and V&A Dundee. The V&A considers this latest expansion to be one of the most crucial new museum developments in the United Kingdom.
