My early teenage years were marked by a peculiar Friday ritual that now seems remarkably quaint. After dinner each week, my mother, brother, and I would meander through quiet suburban streets for about 20 minutes to reach the sanctuary of the video rental store. If we had been on our best behavior, the ultimate reward awaited: the freedom to choose any movie we desired. My mother seldom interfered with our picks, leading us to explore a wide spectrum of films. However, it was an unassuming family comedy featuring young actors Kristen Stewart and Corbin Bleu from High School Musical that would profoundly alter the course of my life.
This particular film, “Catch That Kid” from 2004, ignited my fascination with vehicles. While my aspirations of a Formula One career eventually stalled, I found myself embarking on a new, and arguably more perilous, adventure: taking on the challenging role of an engineer on an oil rig situated in the heart of the Indian Ocean.
